Dogs!
Sitting here watching the Westminster Dog Show – what an amazing selection of “puppies”~ Some of these toy breeds are so ugly, they’re cute. That hairdo on the little poodle is really something. I wonder what it looks like on casual friday!? Does it ever get a casual friday? The hair upkeep on the pekingese has got to be outrageous. Look at that Pomeranian! Beautiful. Wow, I don’t care for the poodle cut at all. Wasn’t it a talking pug in MIB movie? I’m liking the little silky terrier – but not hair maintenance requirement. It looks kool as it moves! Oh my a red hair ribbon for the Yorkie!!! I wonder if the Yorkie is embarrassed by it! Then there are the great proplan commercials. I really am a dog person!!! Right now Sam, our tabby cat, is on a vacation, staying with the Hendricksons, and getting lots of love and attention. Not sure if he’ll stay with them or come home. Should he stay at the Hendricksons, will I break down and try again with a dog? I must say that it’s quite a different proposition when I can’t just open the back door and let the puppy out. Doing the walking thing in the cold and rain and heat and rain doesn’t sound like so much fun. There are some who will say “are you crazy!” ~~ and yet there is something about a dog!!!
The Loving Hearts Cafe
Today the children of Unity in Frederick hosted the Loving Hearts Cafe for all the adults of Unity. They and their parents worked hard to provide a beautiful space in our Roots Room downstairs with some GREAT food. Each child took responsibility for some portion of serving, greeting, circulating, cleaning up! Each brought his or her unique view to the event….the kaleidoscope of energy frequencies and colors was breath-taking as the cafe filled to overflowing! As I watched the adults come into the room and filled their plates with scrumptious food, I noticed that individuals were sitting down with folks they didn’t know and reaching out to share the experience ~~ there was laughter bouncing off the walls. Upstairs in the main sanctuary, this co-mingling is not as easy to achieve….perhaps the community that is our children has set an example and laid out an energetic pattern that we, the more hesitant adults, can step into and follow. These children truly are a new breed ~~ bringing a new perspective on life and love and oneness. May we find the will to lower our defenses and learn from the beautiful souls. Bless them.

What’s fun for you may not be what’s for me….or is it?
Tonight my grandson is here for our weekly sleepover. I look forward this time and have some ideas about things we might have fun doing together. Sometimes it’s going to the train museum-in the spring and summer it’s baseball games at the local stadium. This week I thought we might play a little Harry Potter on the Xbox. Tonight Odie had other ideas…he wanted me to watch him play Minecraft on the Xbox or some cowboy game on his ipod. I must say that Minecraft is not a favorite of mine and watching someone else play when you yourself are addicted to the experience of vanquishing foe and destroying lego entities is not my idea of fun. So i found myself feeling a bit out of sorts when presented with those options tonight. I said ok with a huff, grabbed my book and sat down on the couch to read. Soon this amazing bundle of energy was sitting next to me saying “look Noni’ “watch me Noni”. The book went down and i watched. The next thing you know I have my phone and am playing Candy Crash (until I ran out of lives) and Bubbleworld, saying “wow look Odie”. Tonight I gained a new perspective on what fun is when you share with someone you love.
Through a Window
To start this new journey, here’s a quote from Jane Goodall….
“There are many windows through which we can look out into the world, searching for meaning….Most of us, when we ponder on the meaning of our existence, peer through but one of these windows onto the world. And even that one is often misted over by the breath of our finite humanity. We clear a tiny peephole and stare through. No wonder we are confused by the tiny fraction of a whole that we see. It is, after all, like trying to comprehend the panorama of the desert or the sea through a rolled-up newspaper.”
On this new journey, may I see through something larger than that roller-up newspaper!!
